and one purpose only, and that is to return to the internet that we all used to love back in the 90s and 00s. I don't know about you, but I sure do miss the golden age of the internet, back when everyone was online and everyone loved surfing the web. |
Our slang, was the best slang. Phrases like "l8r" "c ya" and "ttyl" paved the way for
the internet slang of today, yet have been forget to time and memory. We all know that our internet slang was an adaptation of text slang, back when you only had 168 characters to let your friends know "wuts up" but it was a thing of beauty and a language all our own. |
I hope to spark a movement... a homecoming... a return to the old ways. We've gotten so
caught up in the advacements of the internet of today that we have forgotten to sit back and appreciate how we got here. Sure Facebook is the best way to keep in touch with old friends and family, keep people updated on what you've been up to with pictures and status updates... but whatever happened to just surfing the net for the sake of trying to find that one cool (or kewl) website that captivated you and took over your internet history for the next four years? Whatever happened to online chatting with your friends with AOL Instant messenger or Yahoo! Messenger or even MSN. We need a coming to Jesus moment on the internet, a return to what we used to be. How about it... email your favorite websites and let them know that we want OUR internet back, the internet that captured that lightening in a bottle and captivated us all into sitting down at the PC to do more than just watch YouTube and play a video game. Let's bring back the days of countless hours spent on Newgrounds and AlbinoBlackSheep and AddictingGames the days when Flash Games were the biggest craze and creators from all over the world would come together on these sites and share their early creations. Let's bring back the days of Angelfire "webmasters" and fan pages that consisted of more than just blog posts and the ocassional picture, but had episode ratings and hints for your favorite video games and pop quizes about your favorite TV shows. |
So let's do it! Let's reclaim the internet and get back to our roots!! |
